Israeli women recount the moral challenges they had faced as soldiers while stationed at the Gaza Strip and West Bank and their encounters with the Palestinian population. The young women speak critically about the way they handled the power that was placed in their hands at the young age of eighteen. |

The documentary film portrays Israeli women reminiscing experiences of their compulsory military service in Israel. The government drafting
system demands all the citizens, including women, perform military service. Israel is one of the few countries in the world that enforces
military service for women. The majority of Israelis are drafted into the military at the age of eighteen with men serving for three years and
women for two years. The film features the women¡¯s regretful decisions they made at 18 serving as conscript soldiers, observatory soldiers,
privates, sergeants, etc. The fragile young Israeli women who began their services with patriotism and illusionary fantasy witnessed a harsh
reality replete with violence and cruelty. Subsequently, all they remember are painful nightmares during their service. Behind their innocent
and peaceful smiles on the screen, there are stories of grief and hardships. (Choi Hea Kyung) |
